Fibromyalgia Sandpit Literature Review Competition

The Fibromyalgia Sandpit

The Fibromyalgia Sandpit on 30th September 2025 will bring together a multidisciplinary group of professionals to discuss a wide range of issues relating to this misunderstood and under researched condition. The aim is to identify research priorities, potential improvements to patient pathways (including community-based initiatives) and policy initiatives.

The competition

A literature review competition will take place between 6 June and 4 July.

The competition is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students, academics and healthcare professionals.

Filling out an online form, the applicants will be asked to describe a recent, published research finding in musculoskeletal health and its direct or potential relevance to improved patient outcomes.

If your application is successful and you are selected, you will be asked to produce an up-to-date literature review of the current state of fibromyalgia.  This needs to be prepared and published in advance of the sandpit event on 30 September. You will be presenting the results of your literature review at the beginning of the sandpit event to set the scene.

A summary of the outputs from the literature review will be sent to attendees in advance of the meeting to ensure a broad understanding of the issues and best practice on treatment and support.

Prizes

A prize of up to £500 will be awarded to two winners.
