MSK Innovation Accelerator programme gains support from NVIDIA
The MSK Innovation Accelerator, the UK’s leading entrepreneur programme for early-stage musculoskeletal (MSK) MedTech innovation, will be boosted in 2024/25 by the support of NVIDIA. The programme, which is hosted by MedTech SuperConnector in partnership with ORUK, was successfully piloted last year. It is designed to accelerate the development of MSK innovation and create and scale early-stage ventures across the UK. It involves a 6-month intensive learning journey, providing participants with entrepreneurship training, masterclasses and access to expertise.
Reflecting the increasing importance of AI-based technologies to MedTech innovation, the next MSK Innovation Accelerator programme will harness NVIDIA’s expertise in AI computing to provide mentorship and technical guidance to the programme participants.
ORUK’s CEO, Arash Angadji says, ‘The use of AI is transforming clinical performance and patient outcomes within MSK health, but there is much more than can be done, especially when AI is used to analyse and interpret the vast amount of data that is generated within orthopaedics. This is why we welcome the involvement of world leaders such as NVIDIA to further strengthen what is already proving to be a successful programme to develop the MSK health entrepreneurs of the future.’
MedTech SuperConnector is a collaboration of leading academic institutions with a shared vision to support early career researchers in the development and translation of their early-stage medtech innovations. Participants, who are typically early-career researchers (fellows, postdocs and late-stage PhD candidates), or innovators from Academic Research Centres, SMEs or clinical institutes, are given world-class entrepreneurship training. This is supported by digital learning developed with the Imperial College London Business School, in addition to access to funding, advisors, and industry experts.
Head of MedTech SuperConnector, Hiten Thakrar says, ‘The collaboration between MedTech SuperConnector, ORUK, and NVIDIA represents a significant leap forward in the MSK Innovation Accelerator programme. By combining our expertise in medtech entrepreneurship with access to NVIDIA’s experts, we’re creating an unparalleled opportunity for innovators to develop cutting-edge solutions in musculoskeletal health. This collaboration not only strengthens our programme but also accelerates the translation of groundbreaking research into real-world applications, transforming patient care in the field of orthopaedics.’
The deadline for applications is 29th September 2024.
