New trustee

Benjamin Ellis joins ORUK board

We are delighted to announce that Benjamin Ellis, consultant rheumatologist and clinical director for outpatient transformation at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, has been appointed a trustee of our charity.

Benjamin has a special interest in promoting a public health approach to musculoskeletal health, improving the extent and quality of musculoskeletal health data and developing systems to support self-management for people with long-term conditions.

Following a two-year secondment in 2008 to work as both clinical advisor to the England Chief Medical Officer and programme manager at WHO Patient Safety, he subsequently completed his master of public health degree at John’s Hopkins, then between 2010 and 2024 combined his clinical work with a role as senior clinical policy advisor to Versus Arthritis.

Beyond work, Benjamin co-founded KeshetUK, a charity working to advance LGBT+ inclusion in UK Jewish communities, is a Trustee of his local heritage cinema, and a faculty member of the prestigious Senior Faith Leadership Programme based at Windsor Castle. He enjoys cycling, swimming, cooking vegetarian food and singing in various choirs. In the 2024 New Years’ Honours, he was appointed MBE for services to inclusion, healthcare and the Jewish community.

ORUK’s CEO, Dr Arash Angadji, commented, ‘Benjamin’s expertise in public health and policy, in addition to his extensive experience within the charitable sector, makes him a very welcome addition to our board of trustees.’
