Peri-prosthetic fracture management course, 11/10/2021 - 12/10/2021

Overview

A new two day course covering the classification, assessment and surgical management of peri-prosthetic fractures around hip and knee replacements. The course is designed for senior trainees (ST6+) and post-FRCS orthopaedic surgeons. Participants will have the opportunity to use modern fixation, revision systems and endoprostheses. They will also have the chance for in depth discussions on difficult cases with an expert panel.

By the end of the course, participants should have a comprehensive framework for decision making around peri-prosthetic fracture management and some useful practical tips and tricks for both fixation and revision.

Mr Jonathan Quayle

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Salisbury District Hospital

Jonathan served in the Royal Army Medical Corps for 7 years including a tour of Afghanistan. While in the army he gained his interest in trauma and orthopaedic surgery. He left the army to undertake his orthopaedic training in the KSS Deanery prior to arthroplasty fellowships at North Shore Hospital, Auckland and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. His main interest is arthroplasty revision, including the management of peri-prosthetic fractures and infections. He is now a consultant at Salisbury District Hospital

Mr Philip Stott

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust

Mr Philip Stott is a hip specialist from Brighton. He became interested in hips early on in his career. He has been fascinated at how technology has changed to improve patients’ lives. Mr Stott also set up the pelvic and acetabular fracture service in Brighton. He works in a tertiary hip unit, getting complex referrals from around the region. He was the lead hip fracture surgeon, helping to set up the UK’s first dedicated NOF unit.
